Since taking over ownership of the Lake County Knights and the restructuring of the team to the Lake County Chiefs we have strived to be a competitive force in the CFL. We have made the playoffs 11 of the 12 years since being in the league. Of the two championship appearances we took the title in 2003. In 2000 we were invited to play in the Great Lakes Bowl held in Oakland County Michigan and was victorious. In 2000 in Lake County we were honored as Most Influential African American for Sports and the presentation was made by at that time Ms. Betty Curry, secretary to President Bill Clinton.
