The Chicago Horsemen have competed as a full contact, semi-professional football team since 1998. The team's founders brought forth an opportunity for athletes to continue their football careers beyond that of high school or college. The members of the team descend from diverse backgrounds yet work together and share a common passion for the game of football. Originally, the Horsemen began competing in the Midwest Football League, a league with charter members from Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana. In the year 2000, the Horsemen joined competition with teams in the Chicagoland Football League. Based on the southwest side of Chicago, the Horsemen believe in clean, aggressive, highly competitive football. Continuously, the team strives to represent itself as a championship organization built with a dedication and professionalism. The Horsemen and the Chicagoland Football League strive to put forth the most organized and professional establishment possible. All league games are played on regulation fields (most in local stadiums) and are fully officiated. The CFL is an affiliate member of the American Football Association, which is the governing body for semi-professional leagues across the country. Membership in the AFA provides credibility for the league as well as to ensure that top teams in their respective leagues will be nationally recognized for post-season tournament play against other ranked teams across the country. Power rankings and national conference ratings are also made available to all member leagues and their teams. In the year 2000, the Horsemen will not accept falling one game short of a championship. This year the stable is loaded and the Horses are in it to win it! |
