CB McManis returns on one-year deal

The Bears announced Wednesday that they re-signed cornerback and gunner Sherrick McManis to a one-year deal.

A key special-teams contributor, McManis played in all 15 games last season and, by the team stats, had 15 tackles on kick coverage, second to Blake Costanzo. 

A Northwestern grad and Peoria native, McManis first came to the Bears prior to the 2012 season via a trade with the Texans for fullback Tyler Clutts. McManis joins Craig Steltz, who was re-signed on Tuesday, and Derrick Martin as the special-teams players who have been brought back this offseason.

They will have competition, though, as the Bears have added Jordan Senn, M.D. Jennings and Danny McCray, who all have plenty of experience covering kicks.
