LAKE FOREST — An MRI confirmed that Jay Cutler has a muscle tear in his groin. He will miss "at least" four weeks.

"Based on this injury, four weeks is a reasonable start, and then it will be week to week," Marc Trestman said Monday. "I'm encouraged by the prognosis. He'll be back."

Cutler left Sunday's loss to the Redskins in the second quarter after suffering the injury when he was sacked. Josh McCown finished the game for the Bears, who are reportedly going to bring in Jordan Palmer.

The Bears are off in Week Eight and the next three weeks include games in Green Bay and at home against the Lions and Ravens. If Cutler recovers in the minimum amount of time, he could be ready to play in St. Louis on Nov. 24.
