Martellus Bennett gets into a few scuffles during Friday's practice

After an entertaining post-lunch chat with media members, Martellus Bennett has been hot at a humid Friday practice. He got into it early with Chris Conte after putting Major Wright on his back earlier in the drill. Then, he and Kelvin Hayden went at it, leading to most of the team surrounding the melee. Head coach Marc Trestman talked with the team as Bennett cooled off to the side. His third extra curricular activity of the day was again with Wright, who was pulled off the field.

Off the field, Charles Tillman, Julius Peppers and Brandon Marshall appear to be taking veteran days. Corey Wootton, Jamaal Anderson, Jonathan Scott, D.J. Williams and Jermon Bushrod are all out with injuries.

The Bears waived TE Brody Eldridge, per the league's transaction notice. Veteran TE Leonard Pope, who is 6-foot-8, is in Bourbonnais wearing street clothes, as first reported by Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.
